Scripture: Ps 102; 2 Kings 19:1-20; 1 Corinthians 9:16-27; Matthew 8:1-17
Scripture standout: 1 Corinthians 9: "Run in such a way as to get the prize."
His Deed/The Day: I had the rare opportunity this week to interview a teacher whose experience had been greatly enhanced through a education program sponsored by a friend's family. It was incredible to see how this family's generous focus on the education of teachers manifested itself so tangibly in this smart, bright teacher who is out to turn things around in her field. Instead of just remarking on that to myself, which I so often do about most stuff (talking to myself...happens a lot more these days) I wrote a quick email to my friend's mother sharing the experience.
What happens when you deliberately tweak your conscience to be more aware of meeting others' needs? Every day? And if it happens to be Lent...for 40 days? What does that look like? What deeds would transpire? What blessings come back? How do we listen for direction? Wake up each morning and decide to be intentional about bringing others better into focus with a little prayer, silence and scripture. Let the daily deeding commence! #DoingUntoOthers #OthersFirst #OneDeedADayGo
How to Do-Good
Quick How-To Guide: Start the day with a little silence, scripture (via Forward Day by Day, if you choose) and prayer. Then open your eyes and make it a practice to be hyper-aware of who and what's going on around you. Deploy that deed with confidence when God gives you his signature gentle nudge. This may feel awkward and unnatural. #NoWorries #GoWithIt #DeedWellDone #BlessingsEnsueJustWait
