How to Do-Good

Quick How-To Guide: Start the day with a little silence, scripture (via Forward Day by Day, if you choose) and prayer. Then open your eyes and make it a practice to be hyper-aware of who and what's going on around you. Deploy that deed with confidence when God gives you his signature gentle nudge. This may feel awkward and unnatural. #NoWorries #GoWithIt #DeedWellDone #BlessingsEnsueJustWait

Day 173

Scripture: Ps 37; 1 Kings 11:1-13; James 3:13—4:12; Mark 15:12-21

Scripture standout: "13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom."

Morning thoughts: The other day, I went to Terry's Kitchen to buy myself some of her famous frozen chicken tetrazzini. So delicious. So freezable. I marched in, ordered two, paid for them, slid back into the car and zipped back to the house. Much to my dismay, when I pulled the first casserole out of the oven later that evening — the dreamy chicken tetrazzini turned out to be mislabeled lasagna. It was delicious, of course, but no substitute for the CT.

I shared this story with Running Buddy the next morning....a-grumpuss-a-grumpuss-a-grumpuss.

Yesterday, guess what was on my door step? A hard-as-a-rock frozen CT casserole with a note on it from RB that Terry's Kitchen had plenty of the tet today. I got deeded big time. How wonderful is it when someone — remembers. And acts on it. Thanks, RB — see you at the BC! (That's code for, "thanks Running Buddy old pal, see you at the "butt crack" of dawn...our big joke)

His Deed/The Day: I publicly shared my admiration for someone's work during a meeting. They really appreciated it, and came back with a ditto! Sometimes, good deeds come right back atcha!

Today, I also left a deed undone. There was a big crew of workers laying cement in our neighborhood. It was a hooooootttt Sep. 1 day. The thought came to me to go home, gather some cold Cokes, and pass them out. But I didn't. Miss opportunity, but perhaps one that will surface again soon.

The last thing is a deed undone, but better left that way — so in the end, it was a deed. Make sense? I have a friend who has a terrible fear of sharks. So much that she will not go very far out into the ocean. I saw a news story today that a six-foot shark took a nip of a surfer's leg today — right in the area where she vacations. I thought about forwarding the story link to her. Then I thought better. Sometimes, ignorance is bliss.
