Scripture: Ps 40, 54, 51; 1 Kings 18:20-40; Philippians 3:1-16; Matthew 3:1-12
Scripture standout: Phillippians 3: "But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."
Morning thoughts: TGIF! Press on!
His Deed/The Day: So I had to order cupcakes today for Marley's birthday next week. Not HAD to. Let me rephrase that, I GOT to — because it is a very fun, and whimsical little thing to do. And it's something I probably won't get to do much longer now that my baby is turning 10! Anyway, Marley wanted 24 cupcakes with squirrels on top. Take a moment to imagine it. Squirrels. So I went to the best cupcake place in town to place the order. As I was checking out, I spied the teal Jaguars cupcakes. I had to have those to serve after dinner, on the evening of the season opener! Then I thought of the friend I was meeting for coffee — wouldn't she and her husband like two cupcakes, too! Cupcakes pack a lot of love.
What happens when you deliberately tweak your conscience to be more aware of meeting others' needs? Every day? And if it happens to be Lent...for 40 days? What does that look like? What deeds would transpire? What blessings come back? How do we listen for direction? Wake up each morning and decide to be intentional about bringing others better into focus with a little prayer, silence and scripture. Let the daily deeding commence! #DoingUntoOthers #OthersFirst #OneDeedADayGo
How to Do-Good
Quick How-To Guide: Start the day with a little silence, scripture (via Forward Day by Day, if you choose) and prayer. Then open your eyes and make it a practice to be hyper-aware of who and what's going on around you. Deploy that deed with confidence when God gives you his signature gentle nudge. This may feel awkward and unnatural. #NoWorries #GoWithIt #DeedWellDone #BlessingsEnsueJustWait
