How to Do-Good

Quick How-To Guide: Start the day with a little silence, scripture (via Forward Day by Day, if you choose) and prayer. Then open your eyes and make it a practice to be hyper-aware of who and what's going on around you. Deploy that deed with confidence when God gives you his signature gentle nudge. This may feel awkward and unnatural. #NoWorries #GoWithIt #DeedWellDone #BlessingsEnsueJustWait

Day 185

Scripture: Ps 61, 62, 68; 1 Kings 21:17-29; 1 Corinthians 1:20-31; Matthew 4:12-17

Scripture standout: Ps 62: "9 Surely the lowborn are but a breath,
   the highborn are but a lie.
If weighed on a balance, they are nothing;
   together they are only a breath.:

(This one isn't a part of today's reading, but saw it and REALLY liked it. Good marching orders for the day! “[Suffering for Doing Good] Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.” 1 Peter 3:8 NIV)

Morning thoughts: Today is my baby's birthday. Marley is 10, which is just unbelievable to me. That tiny brown peanut who arrived nearly 10 days early, is now 10 years old. She has grown into a beautiful, fun-loving, kind, witty and wise little girl who is agile, sporty and a joy to be around. And she says random, hysterical things like, "Hey mom, throw me a zesty beat." Zesty beat? So happy birthday to my little zesty beat. May she continue to be a nice girl and be sympathetic to others. I love you, Marley!

His Deed/The Day: David's stepdad is 93. He's been challenged by some health issues lately. But he's still kicking and doing great! Without prompting and knowing it was Marley's birthday today, he came by Sunday with a card and Walgreen's gift card for her. He wished her a happy birthday, and then just stayed a while...chatted. We caught up, and it was very nice. Today, I thanked him for sharing his time. Sharing time is definitely a deed, and we appreciated it! Especially coming from someone who had every right to be focused on himself! What a lesson...
