Scripture: Ps 93, 96; 1 Kings 18:1-19; Philippians 2:12-30; Matthew 2:13-23
Scripture standout: Phillipians 2: "13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose."
Morning thoughts: In me? Even in this mom who is still trying to get her act together this school year? Even this mom, who scheduled a dentist appointment on the same day Ben was going on a school trip — and had to be reminded of the overlap...BY HER SON? Even me? The mom who forgot to circle back on a debt...TO A BOY SCOUT? This grumpussing old mother who fed her frozen bread pizza last night that had been in the freezer for a long, long while? Don't I wish it was possible to see the good purpose that comes out of soooooo many fumbles.
His Deed/The Day: After a delightful...and cool...early morning run, I spied a tall boy beer can on the side of the road. I strode past it. But the urge came! It told me to grab that nasty, empty, tall boy and throw that puppy away. So I did.
What happens when you deliberately tweak your conscience to be more aware of meeting others' needs? Every day? And if it happens to be Lent...for 40 days? What does that look like? What deeds would transpire? What blessings come back? How do we listen for direction? Wake up each morning and decide to be intentional about bringing others better into focus with a little prayer, silence and scripture. Let the daily deeding commence! #DoingUntoOthers #OthersFirst #OneDeedADayGo
How to Do-Good
Quick How-To Guide: Start the day with a little silence, scripture (via Forward Day by Day, if you choose) and prayer. Then open your eyes and make it a practice to be hyper-aware of who and what's going on around you. Deploy that deed with confidence when God gives you his signature gentle nudge. This may feel awkward and unnatural. #NoWorries #GoWithIt #DeedWellDone #BlessingsEnsueJustWait
