Scripture: Ps 119:145-176; Ps 128, 129, 130; Jer 25:30-38; Romans 10:14-21; John 10:1-18
Scripture standout: John 10: 3 "He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out."
Morning thought: No matter how old you are, it is a wonderful thing when a parent calls you by name. I'm not talking about the first-middle-last kind of name calling that you might have gotten as a child in trouble. But I'm thinking of that wonderful, familiar, spot-on tone of your parent saying your name — calling you, seeking your presence. It's such a safe sound, in most cases. My mom died nearly 20 years ago, but I still remember the way it felt when she said my name. And still, just thinking about it makes me want to run to her, do right by her and just snuggle in.
What happens when you deliberately tweak your conscience to be more aware of meeting others' needs? Every day? And if it happens to be Lent...for 40 days? What does that look like? What deeds would transpire? What blessings come back? How do we listen for direction? Wake up each morning and decide to be intentional about bringing others better into focus with a little prayer, silence and scripture. Let the daily deeding commence! #DoingUntoOthers #OthersFirst #OneDeedADayGo
How to Do-Good
Quick How-To Guide: Start the day with a little silence, scripture (via Forward Day by Day, if you choose) and prayer. Then open your eyes and make it a practice to be hyper-aware of who and what's going on around you. Deploy that deed with confidence when God gives you his signature gentle nudge. This may feel awkward and unnatural. #NoWorries #GoWithIt #DeedWellDone #BlessingsEnsueJustWait
