How to Do-Good

Quick How-To Guide: Start the day with a little silence, scripture (via Forward Day by Day, if you choose) and prayer. Then open your eyes and make it a practice to be hyper-aware of who and what's going on around you. Deploy that deed with confidence when God gives you his signature gentle nudge. This may feel awkward and unnatural. #NoWorries #GoWithIt #DeedWellDone #BlessingsEnsueJustWait

Day 26 in Review

Prayer: yes
Scripture: yes
Silence: Yes. I had a fight with myself during this morning's silence about trying to get up and get going. My self won — the right self, that is.

The Deed/The Day: I'd like to say my deed today was catching my family up on laundry. But unfortunately, that is my job — not my deed. Gosh you've never seen such laundry and sheets! I made a quick purge of some old pillows at Goodwill, but again — not exactly a deed, but a necessity that just happens to maybe possibly help someone else at the same time. My real deed for today is not yet complete. I'm trying to honor the birthday of an old friend by making a small donation to our high school strings program. We were very lucky to have been offered the opportunity to play a stringed instrument at our public school. Not many kids get this these days. When we were in the fourth grade at Cambridge Elementary School in San Antonio, we could pick an instrument and join the string program. I opted for the cello. My friend, the violin. We had a great time playing in the orchestra from fourth grade through our senior year  in the Sinfonietta. It was such a gift. I continue to play monthly with some dear friends here in Jacksonville. This week, we are having our first "public concert" at a fundraiser for a local nonprofit that advocates strings for youth. Strings and old friends are on the brain.

Words of encouragement/advice:  Psalm 92: "1 It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High,"

Final thoughts: May the friendships you make be those which endure and all of your grey clouds be small ones for sure. And trusting Him to Whom we all pray, may a song fill your heart every step of the way." — An Irish blessing. And check these cellists out...bad...to...the...bone:
