How to Do-Good

Quick How-To Guide: Start the day with a little silence, scripture (via Forward Day by Day, if you choose) and prayer. Then open your eyes and make it a practice to be hyper-aware of who and what's going on around you. Deploy that deed with confidence when God gives you his signature gentle nudge. This may feel awkward and unnatural. #NoWorries #GoWithIt #DeedWellDone #BlessingsEnsueJustWait

Fat Tuesday

Prayer.

Scripture.

Silence.

PSS is the plan for this Lenten experiment — it's time to dig in! Do those ingredients yield a near 40-year-old mother who is a better conduit for God's blessing — and less focused on herself? Will that deliberate equation add up to more blessings for all? Will three short, simple acts of focus make a Housewives-addicted, chardonnay-sipping gal more receptive to fulfilling God's daily good deeds? (at least one a day?)

And could that possibly be a more fulfilling experience than my favorite human sources of joy and contentment? (Footnote: I am not giving up any of these "interests," only seeking a greater one. And besides, white cheese puffs are healthy, right? And tabloids about John Gosslin, who wouldn't have lots to learn from a father of 8!)

P.S. (I do enjoy doing other more meaningful pursuits, like running and playing the cello. The above, however, are certainly more colorful examples of small joys)

P.S.S. (PSS. Prayer. Scripture. Silence. The mantra of 40 days unto others! Join in on the wild ride if you dare...)

  1. Sue - I love your blog...having so much fun reading it. A note on People magazine. My friend Kara recommends "Us" over "People" because People wastes a lot of pages with stories about real people...and who wants to waste their precious smut-reading time reading about just a regular person?? - Love, Kate
