Scripture: Ps 41, 52, 44; Deuteronomy 8:11-20; Hebrews 2:11-18; John 2:1-12
Scripture Standout: John 2: "1 On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, 2 and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.” 4 “Woman,[a] why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.”
Morning Thoughts: Did Jesus have a hard time do-gooding sometimes, too? That wasn't exactly a "yes ma'am" for his mother who was just trying to help a party host in need. I am no theologian, so I'm sure there' some smart context here. But could Jesus have been reluctant to get involved in others' needs like the rest of us?
Another thought: Check out the front page of the Times-Union this morning! Episcopalians are big news in these parts!
What happens when you deliberately tweak your conscience to be more aware of meeting others' needs? Every day? And if it happens to be Lent...for 40 days? What does that look like? What deeds would transpire? What blessings come back? How do we listen for direction? Wake up each morning and decide to be intentional about bringing others better into focus with a little prayer, silence and scripture. Let the daily deeding commence! #DoingUntoOthers #OthersFirst #OneDeedADayGo
How to Do-Good
Quick How-To Guide: Start the day with a little silence, scripture (via Forward Day by Day, if you choose) and prayer. Then open your eyes and make it a practice to be hyper-aware of who and what's going on around you. Deploy that deed with confidence when God gives you his signature gentle nudge. This may feel awkward and unnatural. #NoWorries #GoWithIt #DeedWellDone #BlessingsEnsueJustWait
