How to Do-Good

Quick How-To Guide: Start the day with a little silence, scripture (via Forward Day by Day, if you choose) and prayer. Then open your eyes and make it a practice to be hyper-aware of who and what's going on around you. Deploy that deed with confidence when God gives you his signature gentle nudge. This may feel awkward and unnatural. #NoWorries #GoWithIt #DeedWellDone #BlessingsEnsueJustWait

Day 122

Scripture: Ps 20, 21, 116, 117;  1 Samuel 17:31-49; Acts 11:1-18; Mark 1:14-28

Scripture standout: 1 Samuel 17: "47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”"

Mark 1: "23 Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out, 24 “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”
25 “Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!” 26 The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek."

His Deed/The Day: Gave someone a ride and helped someone find shoes that fit.

Why no morning thoughts? Because I didn't have morning thoughts! In fact, it's just now that I have had a moment to reflect on today's readings. I feel a little better about the day now. But still not sure how I'm going to get three deadlines met in 10 days. But that's tomorrow's worry.

Onto another thought...the second verse about being possessed reminds me of some of the Solace children. At least one had a seizure during the visit. And it came up that he has been told by his family that he is is possessed by demons. I heard this from another friend, too — this thought that demons possess someone. What a label to throw on someone, just because their affliction is unknown. Can you imagine the stigma this little boy faces in his village?
