How to Do-Good

Quick How-To Guide: Start the day with a little silence, scripture (via Forward Day by Day, if you choose) and prayer. Then open your eyes and make it a practice to be hyper-aware of who and what's going on around you. Deploy that deed with confidence when God gives you his signature gentle nudge. This may feel awkward and unnatural. #NoWorries #GoWithIt #DeedWellDone #BlessingsEnsueJustWait

Day 117

Scripture: Deuteronomy 10:17-21; Ps 145; Hebrews 11:8-16; Matthew 5:43-48

Scripture standout: Deuteronomy 10: "17 For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes. 18He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing. 19 And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt. 20 Fear the LORD your God and serve him. Hold fast to him and take your oaths in his name. 21 He is the one you praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes."

Morning thoughts: That's timely! "Love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners..." What a great thing to remember this morning as several "foreigners" and their new American friends get an early start on the Fourth of July holiday. This morning, a sea turtle even laid her eggs at the foot of the boardwalk! What a morning...

Our country is so full of bigotry and hatred for things and people that are different. They wave their flags and despise things that are "unAmerican." How soon we all forget that we were all foreigners in this country at one time or another. My great-great grandparents were foreigners from Germany and Denmark when they landed in this country to start anew. We all have similar stories.

His Deed/The Day: Wrote notes of encouragement, congratulations and happy birthdays. Done-zo. Good night and happy fourth!
