Scripture standout: Romans 11: "2 For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all."
Matthew 15: "
The Faith of a Canaanite Woman
21 Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22 A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.” 23 Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.”
24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.”
25 The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said.
26 He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”
27 “Yes it is, Lord,” she said. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.”
28 Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment."
Morning thoughts: Let's face it...being bad has its perks. And it always makes for great television-watching. Watch any Housewives show and it's pretty obvious that being naughty and disobedient rules.
And how many of the Millionaire Matchmaker's clients don't follow Patti's rules of dating?
Being disobedient to society's norms also has intrigue. Take the show Hoarders: Buried Alive.
It's sick and sad! And I just can't stop watching! These poor, poor people value their stuff so highly that it is swallowing them up. And what ensues? Their families are mad and embarrassed, they have horrible relationship issues with their spouses and children. Maybe that's a bad example of disobedience, because I think that show is more about disorder.
People do bad stuff. We're all disobedient, kids and adults alike. Could it be that we're disobedient so we can know the magnitude of God's love a little better? Discipline follows disobedience. Forgiveness follows discipline. Love remains after forgiveness. Hmmm.
His Deed/The day: Ugggh, this is so lame...but I'm tired and am going to bed. Today's deed was picking up the gee-dunk tab at the Gate gas station for today's roadtrip to the beach with RB. Oatmeal Cream Pies,
Peanut M&Ms, Big Red,
water, Healthy Pop popcorn...
gee-dunk. However, the deed was far outweighed by the fact that RB let me hang out with her all day at the beach to begin with, AND she picked up the fish taco and margarita lunch. So, see...lame. But that's all I was able to muster sans lunchtime margarita. I couldn't rally...oh well.
