How to Do-Good

Quick How-To Guide: Start the day with a little silence, scripture (via Forward Day by Day, if you choose) and prayer. Then open your eyes and make it a practice to be hyper-aware of who and what's going on around you. Deploy that deed with confidence when God gives you his signature gentle nudge. This may feel awkward and unnatural. #NoWorries #GoWithIt #DeedWellDone #BlessingsEnsueJustWait

Day 212

Scripture: Ps 1, 2, 3, 4, 7; Jeremiah 36:11-26; 1 Corinthians 13:1-13; Matthew 10:5-15

Scripture standout: Matthew 10: 8"Freely you have received; freely give."

His Deed/The Day: More verbalized prayers going out today to someone who is taking care of a very ill loved one. I wonder sometimes if there's a difference between praying for someone in your private petitions to God — and telling the person you're praying for that you're in there with them and what scriptures might be helpful. Maybe it matters not...

I was deeded big time last night by a friend who invited me over to watch "Picker Sisters." I'd never heard of them, but am glad to be tuned in! These LA designers travel the south looking for junk to transform into hip interior pieces for their fashionista clients. Those girls have vision! It was nice to be invited to that little "party" (party of 2!). It truly could have been to do anything — sometimes, just the invitation means mucho. It did to me.

My morning run was cut short this morning because of all this glorious wind and rain. While I was running home as fast as I could, I remembered two things to note. One, Ashraf and Abed came by for a visit yesterday. Ashraf has completed his surgeries and is going back to Afghanistan in November. They came to retrieve his bike. The last time he rode it, he was out in the street doing pop-a-wheelies the night before his external fixator surgery. How amazing to see him return whole — with two working feet, and eager to get back behind the handle bars. He is inspiring. I was grateful to be able to see a start-to-finish miracle.

Second, I just finished reading "A Hiding Place" by Corrie Ten Boom. Wow. One of her messages is to be thankful in all circumstances. I'm going to try and do more of that.
