How to Do-Good

Quick How-To Guide: Start the day with a little silence, scripture (via Forward Day by Day, if you choose) and prayer. Then open your eyes and make it a practice to be hyper-aware of who and what's going on around you. Deploy that deed with confidence when God gives you his signature gentle nudge. This may feel awkward and unnatural. #NoWorries #GoWithIt #DeedWellDone #BlessingsEnsueJustWait

Day 204

Scripture: Ps 19; Exodus 20:1-4,7-9,12-20; Philippians 3:4b-14; Matthew 21:33-46

Scripture standout: Matthew 21: "43 “Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit."

His Deed/The Day: Funny that this friend I mentioned yesterday — the one who was always so good about calling or writing the next day to offer thanks for being hosted — had a small gathering Saturday night. So I had an other serendipitous occasion to thank her for a nice evening. Also, for church I decided to throw on a long sleeved shirt — because it was actually CHILLY outside for the first time in a while! But it's the kind of shirt that only looks appropriate under a sweater. It's thin and clingy, but looks cute peaking out. So I grabbed a long sweater and off we went. Well my friend Marley was very cold in church. It consumed her mind and church experience. Finally, she looked up at me with those beautiful brown eyes and said, "can I please wear your sweater?" I didn't think twice, thankfully! I didn't even ruminate about the clingy, inappropriate shirt I was wearing underneath my "coverage." The sweater came right off and went on Marley. It wasn't until communion that I actually thought about how yikes I probably looked — and by that time, she was warm and returned my mumu-like sweater. Thank God!
