How to Do-Good

Quick How-To Guide: Start the day with a little silence, scripture (via Forward Day by Day, if you choose) and prayer. Then open your eyes and make it a practice to be hyper-aware of who and what's going on around you. Deploy that deed with confidence when God gives you his signature gentle nudge. This may feel awkward and unnatural. #NoWorries #GoWithIt #DeedWellDone #BlessingsEnsueJustWait

Day 67

Scripture: Ps 23; Acts 2:42-47; 1 Peter 2:19-25; John 10:1-10

Scripture standout: 1 Peter 2: "19 For it is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God. 20 But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. 21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps."

Morning thoughts: This morning I sat a few rows behind a dad who was really in pain this morning during church. I know because I've been there. I too have sat through church — tortured — because my kids were  fussing, or fighting or yelling how bad they had to go poo-poo, or worse yet talking back. I have pinched little bodies while trying desperately to pray. I've been on the verge of standing up during quiet time for a punctuated public spanking. I've left church early in tears. And there was this dad today. He was so entrenched in his desire to escape the insanity of his personal pew area that he deliberately ignored it. He was bearing up under the pain of unjust suffering for sure.

The Deed/The Day: I prayed for that guy in church as annoyed as I was by  his urchins' misdeeds. Been there, and hope others had similar sentiments for me.
