Scripture: Ps 116:1-3, 10-17; Acts 2:14a, 36-41; 1 Peter 1:17-23; Luke 24:13-35
Scripture standout: Luke: 24 " 30 When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight."
Morning thoughts: Today will be a fun challenge — do unto others on Mother's Day and my 39th birthday? Is it possible with such a double-whammy of a "me" day?
I like this verse because it's so typical: I see God in situations or people or acts — and it all becomes so clear. Then in the very next moment, he disappears from my sight with the next round of worry, daily chore or thought. I wish those recognitions were more prolonged experiences.
The Deed/The Day: Wow. The only thing I managed to do was to be grateful. Is that a deed?
What happens when you deliberately tweak your conscience to be more aware of meeting others' needs? Every day? And if it happens to be Lent...for 40 days? What does that look like? What deeds would transpire? What blessings come back? How do we listen for direction? Wake up each morning and decide to be intentional about bringing others better into focus with a little prayer, silence and scripture. Let the daily deeding commence! #DoingUntoOthers #OthersFirst #OneDeedADayGo
How to Do-Good
Quick How-To Guide: Start the day with a little silence, scripture (via Forward Day by Day, if you choose) and prayer. Then open your eyes and make it a practice to be hyper-aware of who and what's going on around you. Deploy that deed with confidence when God gives you his signature gentle nudge. This may feel awkward and unnatural. #NoWorries #GoWithIt #DeedWellDone #BlessingsEnsueJustWait
