Scripture: Ps 37:1-42; Daniel 5:13-30; 1 John 5:13-21;
Scripture standout: Daniel 5: 23 "You praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or understand. But you did not honor the God who holds in his hand your life and all your ways."
Morning thoughts: I did some writing work for a public relations firm several years ago. They specialized in marketing homebuilders and real estate companies — back when selling a $3 million mansion with all the granite countertops and stainless steel appliances was like selling hotdogs. You should have read some of the press releases I had to write for these homebuilders. "You'll love the luxurious feel of the wall-to-wall wool carpeting massaging your feet and the alluring glow of the ridiculously expensive tile in the six-bedroom, eight-bathroom Stella Luna model home in the glorious community of Brigadoon." People ate it up.
The feast didn't last long.
What happens when you deliberately tweak your conscience to be more aware of meeting others' needs? Every day? And if it happens to be Lent...for 40 days? What does that look like? What deeds would transpire? What blessings come back? How do we listen for direction? Wake up each morning and decide to be intentional about bringing others better into focus with a little prayer, silence and scripture. Let the daily deeding commence! #DoingUntoOthers #OthersFirst #OneDeedADayGo
How to Do-Good
Quick How-To Guide: Start the day with a little silence, scripture (via Forward Day by Day, if you choose) and prayer. Then open your eyes and make it a practice to be hyper-aware of who and what's going on around you. Deploy that deed with confidence when God gives you his signature gentle nudge. This may feel awkward and unnatural. #NoWorries #GoWithIt #DeedWellDone #BlessingsEnsueJustWait
