Scripture: Ps 112; Isaiah 42:5-12; Matthew 10:7-16; Acts 11:19-30; 13:1-3
Scripture standout: Matthew: "7 As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy,[a] drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give."
Morning thoughts: When I can sit here for longer, I will share the sweet note Quodrat wrote to us on the iTouch. It made my weekend!
His Deed/The Day: There wasn't much on the deeding agenda except to watch a bunch of Afghan and American children having a total ball together at Camp Montgomery. It was intoxicating. To get technical, the tangible deed was helping a few kids who had never swam much before kick and sputter across the lake in their life jackets — smiling all the while. But still, I could have sat on the dock all day just watching joyful children having fun a sunny Florida afternoon — a much more selfish act indeed.
What happens when you deliberately tweak your conscience to be more aware of meeting others' needs? Every day? And if it happens to be Lent...for 40 days? What does that look like? What deeds would transpire? What blessings come back? How do we listen for direction? Wake up each morning and decide to be intentional about bringing others better into focus with a little prayer, silence and scripture. Let the daily deeding commence! #DoingUntoOthers #OthersFirst #OneDeedADayGo
How to Do-Good
Quick How-To Guide: Start the day with a little silence, scripture (via Forward Day by Day, if you choose) and prayer. Then open your eyes and make it a practice to be hyper-aware of who and what's going on around you. Deploy that deed with confidence when God gives you his signature gentle nudge. This may feel awkward and unnatural. #NoWorries #GoWithIt #DeedWellDone #BlessingsEnsueJustWait
