Scripture: Ps 107:33-43, 108:1-6(7-13) * 33; Isaiah 65:17-25; Revelation 22:14-21; Matthew 18:21-35
Scripture standout: Matthew 18:21-35. And in anger his lord handed him over to be tortured until he would pay his entire debt. So my heavenly Father will also do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother or sister from your heart.
His Deed/The Day: Oh geez, is going to Dave & Busters a deed? I took Ben and five friends there for dinner and fun tonight in celebration of his birthday. It is fun, I can't lie. But what's not fun, what's totally ridiculous, is that you get all amped up collecting all these tickets — and then reality hits when you get to the "shop." It's all overpriced junk for the thousands of tickets that you accrue. I had more than 1,000 tickets and I was able to purchase six flashing sucker rings. I had 72 points leftover on my card, which doesn't buy much of anything — especially for six boys. So I asked the guy to apply the points to the teenagers behind me in line. Deed. Done.
What happens when you deliberately tweak your conscience to be more aware of meeting others' needs? Every day? And if it happens to be Lent...for 40 days? What does that look like? What deeds would transpire? What blessings come back? How do we listen for direction? Wake up each morning and decide to be intentional about bringing others better into focus with a little prayer, silence and scripture. Let the daily deeding commence! #DoingUntoOthers #OthersFirst #OneDeedADayGo
How to Do-Good
Quick How-To Guide: Start the day with a little silence, scripture (via Forward Day by Day, if you choose) and prayer. Then open your eyes and make it a practice to be hyper-aware of who and what's going on around you. Deploy that deed with confidence when God gives you his signature gentle nudge. This may feel awkward and unnatural. #NoWorries #GoWithIt #DeedWellDone #BlessingsEnsueJustWait
