How to Do-Good

Quick How-To Guide: Start the day with a little silence, scripture (via Forward Day by Day, if you choose) and prayer. Then open your eyes and make it a practice to be hyper-aware of who and what's going on around you. Deploy that deed with confidence when God gives you his signature gentle nudge. This may feel awkward and unnatural. #NoWorries #GoWithIt #DeedWellDone #BlessingsEnsueJustWait

Day 239

Scripture: Ps 80, 77, 79; Nehemiah 9:1-15; Revelation 18:1-8; Matthew 15: 1-20

Scripture standout: Matthew 15: "10 Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen and understand. 11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”

His Deed/The Day: Tried "co-deeding" today. I called my dad today, post-cruise Day 1, and he sounded horribly sick. He said he had been under the weather all day with the coughy cruds. I started thinking that nothing makes a person feel better than hot soup that they haven't prepared. At least, that's what might make me feel better. Even if you don't need or want soup, the fact that someone has taken a minute out of their day to bring soup over has healing effects in itself. So I called on my college roommate, Catherine, to see if she just happened to be in the vicinity of San Antonio's most awesome, Central Market. She was. And as long as I promised to buy her a few margaritas next weekend when we meet for our little reunion, she'd oblige Dad with a couple of bowls of soup — delivered to his front stoop. Thankfully, she passes his house daily — so I don't think this was a stop too far out of her way. And who knows, maybe she and I can co-deed again sometime!
